TheRarestWords.com - Rare Word Semantic Search

Sat, 24 May 2008 14:33:00 PDT
What it does TheRarestWords is an interesting Russian-developed project that seems to have the goal of optimizing search engine results by pulling out the rarest words on any given site. Basically, TheRarestWords bot scours the internet, examines words on URLs and then lists off the rarest words found on each site. The thinking behind this appears to be that having rarely used words will help you be found faster when people type in those exact words into their search. The homepage of TheRarest

"Following the industry trend to free more network space for digital programming, Cablevision Systems Corp. has dropped duplicate analog channels in its family package, angering some customers, who say the move amounts to a rate increase. Macbeth's murder of Duncan; Henry V at Agincourt; Hamlet's wild stabbing of Polonius. All pretty graphic stuff – and never more so than now, as Bill's finest have been given a pictorial make-over by Classical Comics (www.classical comics.com). Graphic novels are enjoying a surge in interest, and Shakespeare isn't the only one benefiting.

dip and tie-die fashion to "dye" for

Sat, 24 May 2008 16:33:58 PDT
One of the biggest trends this season is the dip and tie-die look, and I've been keeping an eye out for labels that let you embrace the style without resorting to unethically made threads. My favorite at the moment is this dip-dye dress from Tobi.

Bike Polo: Palais de Tokyo

Sat, 24 May 2008 16:58:06 PDT
In Vancouver, fixed-gear bikes have achieved a cool factor that’s been compared with skateboarding culture circa ‘92 - ‘95. They’ve evolved from being the lightweight and low maintenance choice of bike couriers into a must have fashion accessory. And so have biker beanies and messenger bags as well! Unlike other cities around the world, Vancouver’s single-speed obsession is more about being seen with a fixie than actually riding one. In Paris, fixie bike culture is literally underground. Afi

I'm still working out my mojo for what I want to write about at JackMyers.com. I was torn about how much I should bring up BlogHer and actual campaigns we've done. I really like the piece I've written that will go up next week, where I'm more a dispassionate observer of the Twitter obsession, but for now, here's my latest one, on body image in the women's Blogosphere.

Solving the Twitter Business Model Problem - Your Guess is Probably Better than Mine

Sat, 24 May 2008 17:26:56 PDT
I’ve been fascinated by the blogosphere’s musings on Twitter’s downtime. I, for one, am relatively sympathetic toward their plight - there’s nothing tougher than trying to scale a system that’s growing quickly and has a very unpredictable, bursty traffic profile. And as much as I like and enjoy Twitter, it’s not a life-or-death kind of service for me. While most people seem to be making off-hand remarks along the lines of “aside from uptime, they need to figure out the whole business model th

A Potential Clusterfuck, Not a Potential Showdown

A Potential Clusterfuck, Not a Potential Showdown Dale Amon at Samizdata on the dynamic nature of the nuclear world we live in, and a certain Dr. Postel’s out-of-touch lack of understanding about the world we live in: One must wonder if Dr Postel is sullying the good name of Physics in defense of his political preference for a global OK Corral gunfight, a world seemingly frozen in a timeless instant before the first gunfighter makes a false move. With only two gunfighters that standoff might
